SUBLIMATION BORDER PRINTING
What is a sublimation print?
A sublimation print allows an almost lossless and detailed print in photorealistic quality. A polyester yarn is used on the front of the shrink-proof border of the towels manufactured especially for this process.
The actual sublimation printing works as follows: The image or logo is first printed on a carrier foil using special inks. Then the foil is adjusted and transferred to the border using a transfer press. Heat and pressure cause the colour pigments of the sublimation ink to change directly into a gaseous aggregate state and permanently bond with the polyester yarn. A color application is not noticeable.
Advantages of sublimation printing
The decisive advantage of sublimation printing is that, for technical reasons, only the front of the border is made of polyester fibre; however, the back and the entire pile of the towel offer the luxury and pleasant skin feel of pure cotton. A further advantage is that a maximum of print quality is achieved with a sublimation print. Due to the strong bond between the sublimation ink and the polyester border, the print is very resistant to UV radiation and other environmental influences.
Sublimation printing is a very environmentally friendly process, as no solvents or binders are required during production or processing.
